This paper talks about the rise of anti-establishment movements, which emerged in the EU in response to the financial crisis and the extent to which they are opposed to the process European integration. In particular, the authors describe the circumstances that led to the emergence of the anti-establishment movements and talk about the movements themselves, especially those in Italy, Greece, and Spain. They argue that these movements are not, as a whole, opposed to the EU and that their criticism of the Union could be used to improve it.
