This report examines the state of financial regulatory reform in the US and the EU and looks at the dangers regulatory divergence between them can pose to financial stability and efficiency. In particular, it examines the sources, risks and costs of divergence in transatlantic financial regulation and calls on the United States and European Union to reenergize efforts to coordinate the implementation of the G20 regulatory agenda proposed following the 2008 crisis. It also suggests ways with which to promote transatlantic standards as EU-US cooperation becomes more important.
