This paper discusses the commodity derivatives market during the 2000s, its relation to the 2008 financial crash, and US and EU financial sector reform that followed the crash. It then goes on to examine regulatory reform and the increase in size and influence of the derivative market up to mid-2013, with a particular focus on physical commodity markets.
