This paper focuses on Croatia's regional policy in relation to accession negotiations between the Serbia and the EU that start on January 21, 2014. The author argues that Croatia has pledged not to use its EU member status as leverage in its disputes with its neighbors, but that it might find this difficult in relation to unresolved issues it has with Serbia. However, he contends that if Croatia can maintain this pledge and increase cooperation with other Western Balkan countries, it could become the regional patron of EU enlargement.
