This bulletin talks about the eurozone members' attempt to create a supervisory system of it largest banks starting with a comprehensive assessment of these banks by the European Central Bank, announced in October 2013. The author argues that this review and other measures taken by EU and its members show that a banking union is slowly emerging. However, he also suggests that the system’s complex and hybrid nature raises questions about its ability to perform under time pressure. The author concludes by looking at the implications of a banking union for Poland.
