This brief focuses on the challenges of prospects of Sino-Indian relations. The author looks at the political deadlock plaguing current relations between the two countries and contends that newly emerging issues such as India’s increasing trade deficit with China and shared river waters could become highly contested issues. He argues that these issues, however, also present opportunities for cooperation which could be used to reduce frictions between India and China.
