This brief examines relations between China, India, and the US, including the way they compete and cooperate. The authors find that India and the US share a common mistrust of China, which runs large trade surpluses with both countries and that the US-India relationship has unrealized potential. They also say that competition and cooperation in bilateral relations involving any two of these three countries has little immediate and predictable impact on the third party.
