This paper introduces a new approach for modelling land use, land use change, and agricultural value chains. In particular, it creates a new computable general equilibrium model which the authors say can demonstrate the interplay of food, feed, and biofuels in a more transparent and realistic way. The authors also use the model to examine changes in the preferences for meat and dairy products in Asia and find these changes only have minor impacts on global agricultural prices, even though they have a greater effect on regional production and trade.
