This commentary talks about the problems increasing energy prices are creating for household and industrial users as well as the difficulties declining wholesale energy prices are generating for European energy production and energy companies. The author argues that these difficulties are a symptom of much wider problems related to the functioning of both the EU energy market as well as to the EU’s climate and energy policies.
