This bulletin examines the reasons behind China's assertive moves to set up the Air Defence Identification Zone (ADIZ) and implement new fishing rules in the East China Sea. The author also looks at the implications of these moves for the EU and provides recommendations on how the EU could become more present in the region, not only economically but also but also in the political and security dimensions.
