This brief examines some of the problems which have arisen out the leasing of land in Kenya to foreign business corporations. More specifically, it examines how local people perceive land leasing, the extent to which there has been a foreign corporate acquisition of land, and the protests and violence which have occurred due to this situation. The author then describes how land lease policy could better reflect the wishes Kenyans and concludes with some policy recommendations on the issue.
