This note looks at the responses to human trafficking by the UK, including its Government’s strategy against trafficking and its implementation of the Council of Europe Convention against trafficking and a related Directive. The authors also look at how human trafficking is defined by the UN, the EU, and the UK; statistics on people trafficked to or within the UK; UK legislation on trafficking; convictions within Britain for trafficking offenses; support given to the victims of trafficking; and the establishment of the UK Human Trafficking Centre.
