This paper argues that the US should not view its current and future relations with Pakistan through an Afghanistan-centered filter. Instead, Washington should integrate Islamabad into its broader strategy for Asia. In doing so, however, American leaders will have to formulate a policy that truly deals with Pakistan's security problems, supports its economic growth, and aims to normalize its relations with its neighbors.
