This paper looks at poaching and illegal wildlife trade in Africa and how to combat it. The author says that successful action against wildlife crime is a cross-cutting global task encompassing wildlife conservation, fighting organized crime and corruption, the promotion of rule of law, and economic cooperation. She also believes countermeasures will only function if people in Africa enjoy economically viable livelihoods and actually benefit from wildlife protection.
