This report outlines the achievements, benefits and best practices of the African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM) between 2003 and 2013. The author argues that the APRM has offered many useful insights and important lessons related to intra-African South–South co-operation (SSC), knowledge exchange, capacity development and development effectiveness. However, he also says that the ARPM needs to further prioritize, systematize and integrate all these elements in its work and provides recommendations for the Mechanism and its members for how to do this.
