This paper analyzes Turkey's role in the European Commission's Southern Gas Corridor (SGC) Initiative, which aims to diversify the routes used to import natural gas into Europe. As presently structured, it appears that the SGC framework will primarily benefit Azerbaijani and Turkish interests, but not without meeting the EU’s basic strategic goal of supply route diversification.
