This paper examines Turkish foreign policy in the Middle East and the challenges it faced in 2013. In particular, the author looks at the civil war in Syria and the related Kurdish dimension as well as developments in Egypt and examines what these events have meant for Turkey’s foreign policy in the region. In light of the upcoming 2014 elections in Turkey, the author concludes by emphasizing the need for a 'reset' of Turkish foreign policy along the lines of the new regional realities that exist.
