Based on interviews and group discussions, this paper illustrates the range of insecurities Nepalese women in the Banke and Bara districts face in their daily lives, and especially in the workplace, the impact of these insecurities on their wellbeing, and the steps the women have taken to address the challenges they face. The authors reveal that insecurity is a common experience for women at home, in the workplace, as well as on the way to and from work. They conclude with a set of recommendations on what various actors in Nepalese society can do to address the many security challenges the women of Nepal face.
