This report presents an innovative methodology to measure the cost of violence on the global economy. It develops the concept of violence containment spending, explains how it is measured and how it can be developed further. It also presents the costs of violence containment spending worldwide, and comments on how this measure can be used both in the areas of policymaking and research.
