This note analyzes advances and possible challenges in the negotiation process of the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership, the free trade agreement between the EU and the United States. In particular, the author 1) talks about the background, aims and motivations of the agreement; 2) presents the timings, process and ratification procedure of the negotiations; 3) identifies the scope of the negotiations and some potential areas of disagreement; and 4) reviews the history of EU-US economic diplomacy.
