This paper discusses the potentially positive effect of energy policy reform in Afghanistan, both on the country itself and on Southwest Asia. More specifically, the author looks at the key internal energy challenges facing Afghanistan, particularly in terms of pricing, infrastructure and supply, and how these challenges can be addressed. He then explores the possibility of Afghanistan becoming an energy corridor, linking up the energy resources of other countries in Southwest Asia and how such cooperation in energy matters could help build political stability and security in the region.
