This RAD issue looks at Russia’s relations with some of the key states and multilateral organizations of the Asia-Pacific region. The first article focuses on Russia’s ongoing engagement with ASEAN. It argues that in light of Moscow’s reorientation towards Asia and a growing convergence between both sides’ priorities in regional politics, Russia-ASEAN cooperation may well be on the verge of becoming more versatile and multidimensional. The second article then examines the 'dual dependency' of the Russian Far East (RFE) -- i.e., it relies on Moscow for federal development programs, but it also depends on healthy economic relations with surrounding eastern states. Finally, the third article assesses the recently improved relationship between Russia and Vietnam.
