This paper examines the global presence of Asian countries, with a particular focus on China. To do this, the author analyzes data on the overseas economic, military and soft power projection of 60 countries around the world. He states that since the Cold War, there has been a contraction of the overseas presence of the traditional global powers and that the Asian countries, especially China, have benefited most from this redistribution of power. However, he also says that, except in its share of economic presence, Asia still lags far behind Europe and North America in terms of its global presence.
