This paper discusses Russia's annexation of Crimea, including the reasons behind it and its potential global geopolitical impact. The author argues that the reason Russia went into Crimea was because it was concerned that Ukraine could become an anti-Russian state in which NATO forces would be stationed. He then examines the geopolitical implications of the annexation with a particular focus on what it would mean if Russia were to shift its attention away from Europe toward East Asia.
