This study examines factors that it predicts will shape economic growth globally up to 2030 as well as the implications and challenges these could raise for EU policy. The first part of the report concentrates on population growth, globalization and resource scarcity; the second provides an overview of what the global economy in 2030 might look like; the third describes the trajectory of Europe’s transition from today’s depressed economy to 2030; and the fourth discusses the policy challenges that arise for Europe from this view of the world in 2030 and the factors that could have a significant effect on EU policy.
