This commentary analyzes the results of the 6 April 2014 parliamentary election in Hungary. It specifically identifies the reasons behind the governing Fidesz party’s victory and the likely consequences of its success -- i.e., a further consolidation of its local power and a pragmatic policy toward the EU. The commentary also discusses what the election results might mean for nearby Poland.
