This paper examines the general availability, pricing and technical backgrounds of the small-caliber ammunition being used in Syria. In doing so, it concludes that 1) an ongoing supply of ammunition continues to arrive from abroad; 2) the supplies primarily come from China, Iran, and several former Eastern Bloc countries; and 3) the ammunition being produced both domestically and by Iran is helping sustain not only government forces, but also the rebel groups who capture military stockpiles.
