This paper examines the reforms made by Hungarian President Orban and his Fidesz Party since they gained total political power in the country in 2010. More specifically, it discusses how the president and Fidesz have managed to marginalize their political opposition through a reorganization of the political system. It also addresses how their fiscal policies and increase of state control of the economy have consolidated public finances and reduced public debt, despite not dealing with the country’s economic stagnation since 2007. Finally, the author observes that Orban’s government has shown little initiative in its foreign policy as part of the EU and NATO.
