This paper analyzes the potential for regional cooperation in Latin America in the areas of finance, trade and infrastructure. More precisely, the author identifies the following six priority areas in which collaboration would lead to more efficiency and stability in the region: 1) financial institutions, 2) harmonization of financial markets, 3) collective pooling of reserves, 4 ) deepening liberalization agreements, 5) regional transport infrastructure, and 6) common regulation in telecommunications and energy.
