This report discusses the impact of emerging powers on Africa's overarching peace and security agenda. In particular, it compares the roles being played by China, India, Brazil and South Africa with the ones being pursued by the African Union and its African Peace and Security Architecture. The report ultimately concludes that China, India and Brazil are gradually abandoning their traditional non-interventionist approaches on the continent for more proactive and multilateral attempts to shape African security. While this is going on, South Africa is developing parallel capabilities in major ways.
