This paper reviews the EU's level of cooperation with its strategic partners in the fight against international crime. More specifically, the paper 1) canvases the threats organized crime poses to Europe; 2) explores the EU’s strategic approach to coping with the threats, and how it is being implemented; and 3) assesses how effective EU-partner cooperation is against the crime problem. The paper’s overall conclusion is that although bilateral cooperation between the EU and its partners has increased on this issue, it has not yet reached its full potential.
