This report presents the key observations from an informal roundtable comprised of specialists from humanitarian agencies, academia and government on the future prospects for Afghanistan. They include views on development and security issues, governance and nation-building, possible peace initiatives, and options for future Canadian engagement. They also address the challenges the incoming government will face following the 2014 presidential election, in terms of forging unity within a complex tribal structure while coping with a sharp reduction in international assistance and a resilient insurgency.
