This brief examines the ongoing political crisis in Venezuela, which began in February 2014. More specifically, it analyzes 1) the origins of the conflict, including what led to the break out of violence; 2) the main actors involved in the crisis; 3) the status of the reconciliation talks that began in April 2014; and 4) how countries in the region and beyond can help secure a lasting peace between the quarreling factions.
