By using Carl von Clausewitz’s "On War" as an analytic filter, this paper examines the roles cyberwarfare might play in future conflicts. It concludes that although cyberattacks have their utility in war, particularly in its initial stages, their effects are second-tier, especially when compared to conventional military weapons. Future wars fought primarily through cyberspace will thus be unlikely.
