Why has Algeria avoided a popular uprising similar to those that brought down authoritarian governments in Tunisia, Libya, and Egypt? This brief explores how the government has managed to maintain the status quo while also arguing that it risks future instability if it doesn’t embrace serious political and economic reforms.
