This edition of the RAD looks at the current state of the Russian economy. The first article explores the reasons behind the economic slowdown within the country, which both predates the Ukraine crisis and will not trigger the radical reforms that are needed to improve confidence in the business sector. The second article examines the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug region in order to gauge the economic resilience of Russia's resource-abundant periphery, particularly in the wake of the global financial crisis.
