This paper examines the potential for poverty alleviation in rural parts of Uganda. The authors conduct a poverty analysis of the local civil society in southwestern Uganda and study the social and civil development potential for the Rubaya region. The paper points to the value of a rich civil society and the implementation of agricultural innovations in helping to achieve poverty alleviation.
