This paper surveys commentaries by Russian, US and other observers about Transdniestria and the significance of popular Russian support in the territory following Russia’s intervention in Crimea in early 2014. The commentaries also address Moldova’s ties with the EU and NATO and the political tensions between the West and Russia.
