This paper examines the state of economic, political and security relations between China and Russia and argues that Moscow is possibly becoming a more important strategic partner for Beijing. This assertion is supported by such factors as the large gas and oil agreements between the two countries, which will make Russia the main supplier of energy resources to China; other agreements, which will potentially increase Chinese exports to Russia; and Beijing's desire to increase cooperation with Moscow to counteract the US rebalance to the Asia Pacific. The paper also discusses the implications of developments in China-Russia relations for the EU.
