This paper examines the Nigerian terrorist group, Boko Haram and the context in which it operates. More specifically, it looks at 1) the circumstances which led to the creation of Boko Haram; 2) the group’s clashes with Nigerian state forces; 3) the ethnic, religious and economic divisions between north and south Nigeria; and 4) what is being done by Nigeria and the international community to deal with Boko Haram.
