This paper looks at the significant flooding in Serbia in May 2014, suggesting that the high cost of the government's relief and rebuilding efforts could set back the country’s macroeconomic development. The author argues the EU should invest in the economic transformation of Serbia to ensure that it maintains the pace of its progress in its European integration efforts.
