This brief discusses the disparity between Turkey's treatment of its diaspora and its immigrants as measured by the Migrant Integration Policy Index (MIPEX) published in spring 2014. The author argues that while the Turkish government pays significant attention to the sociocultural and economic well-being of its citizens living abroad, its domestic legal framework is unfavorable for the integration of immigrants and ranks low in the MIPEX.
