In light of the resounding victory of Italy’s centre-left Democratic Party (PD) at the 2014 European Parliamentary elections, this commentary examines the role PD could play in moving the EU towards a more growth-oriented economic policy. The author warns that failure to achieve this goal will likely result in a resurgence of euroscepticism in Italy.
