This paper examines how the US can change its foreign policy in order to successfully deal with the complexity and volume of security threats it faces from around the world. Overall, the authors argue that any successful foreign policy must balance the many demands in this policy area; focus on engagement with allies and partners; renew efforts to bolster the liberal international order; and acknowledge challenges resulting from changes in the international system while reasserting control of the narrative over the direction of the global system both at home and abroad.
