This report discusses the nature of the relationships that is emerging between political parties and civil society in the early stages of the transitional period in Myanmar. More specifically, the author 1) provides an overview of political parties and local civil society organizations (CSO) in Myanmar; 2) explores the emerging relations between political parties and civil society; and 3) outlines the legal and social constraints on CSO-political party engagement.
