This paper focuses on Afghanistan’s prospects for security and stability following the departure of ISAF forces in late 2014. In doing so, it explains the history and context of the Afghan conflict, identifies the protagonists who are involved in it, and considers the possible impact of a resurgent Taliban on the country’s political future.
