This paper looks at the characteristics of Russian information warfare. Using Russia’s annexation of Crimea as an example, the paper explains the techniques Russia uses in information warfare and the psychological and geopolitical grounds on which information battles are fought. It also looks at how the Russian language and Russian diaspora made successful information warfare possible in Crimea.
