This paper examines how Kazakhstan views its relationship with Russia. In particular, the author discusses three factors which are affecting Kazakhstan's position 1) Russia’s destabilization of Ukraine; 2) the establishment of the Eurasian Union planned for January 2015, which is to be another stage in the integration of post-Soviet states (presently Russia, Kazakhstan and Belarus); and 3) Russia’s relations with China.
