This brief examines the outcome of the 2014 South African national and provincial elections. Following a brief discussion of the results of the three largest political parties and the outcome of the national and Gauteng provincial contest, the author provides a speculative look forward to the 2016 local government elections for the City of Johannesburg, Tshwane and the Nelson Mandela Bay metropolitan municipalities.
