This paper discusses Africa's economic rise and the risks it could pose, particularly to fragile regions, as well as the trend on the continent which has seen an increase in the role of the private sector in development. The author explains the reasons behind the private sector's greater engagement, the risks involved in greater public-private development cooperation, and what form such cooperation between businesses, the government and donor agencies could take.
